Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Las Vegas is a delicious and affordable option for this area. I have had a few things on the menu and all of it has been worth the price. The taco salads are very tasty, the shell didn't look too appetizing but the flavor and texture was superb. The salad is chopped and and topped with tasty guacamole and spot cream, definitely worth the time to try. The papusa's are cheesy and have a good consistency, the pork leaves something to be desired but overall can satisfy a papusa craving. The queso dip is almost like a broccoli and cheese soup, not sure I would get it again but at least it wasn't Velveeta. I would while heartedly suggest Las Vegas. There is a Chipotle extremely close by if you are looking for a burrito bowl but the quality of the ingredients definitely stand up to the chain.

Had a craving for Spanish food. My coworkers told me about this place so I stopped by. The service was ok and delivery was in good timing (after rush hour). The place has a good amount of seats and is good for families. The chips and salsa were delicious. The entree wasn't the best but still pretty good. I would go back but I would probably just get nachos.

This restaurant is actually a nice place and seems to have recently redone their menu. There are two rooms and ample seating. The restaurant gives you chips and salsa and you can order a variety of Mexican fare from the menu all of which is at very reasonable prices. The service is attentive, but there is a bit of a wait for your order. That being said, the food is very fresh looking, tasty, and well prepared. Las Vegas is a very casual restaurant but definitely a good choice for a work lunch or casual dinner. Definitely worth a visit.

I usually reserve 5 stars for gourmet fare, but the plate of food that was prepared for me tonight was worth it! From the chips & fresh salsa appetizer to the end...DELICIOUS! My meal was fajitas. Simple, but wonderfully delectable. The onions and peppers were grilled to perfection and the strips of chicken and beef were drip-down-your-hand juicy. Though I didn't order dessert I wasn't left wanting. The sweet corn drink did the trick! I was quite skeptical at first, but after I tasted it's warm, creamy goodness, I was hooked. The thought that came to mind at first sip was warm rice pudding. Yummy! I'll be back!

This place rocks! We had soft tacos. Bbq burrito and combo fajitas. The food was delicious. Oh I would definitely go back. It was reasonable pricing also. Super crowded at lunch time so avoid the lunch rush if possible.

Nice Mexican/Salvadorian restaurant located off Security Blvd. Staff is friendly and the food is good. The service has always been good, greeted with a smile and helpful. The food is always consistant, flavorful and portions are good. Service has never been a problem for me, it's always quiet when I'm there. The Papusa is great, all the food is worth a try. Best of all the menu is resonably priced. This place could become one of your "Go To" spots. If you are going for your lunch break, especially with a larger group then be helpful. Know what you want as a group so when they take the order so it doesn't take 15 minutes. If you have to rewrite the recipe then don't order the dish. Don't ask for your drinks 1 at a time so it takes the server 6 trips instead of 1. if you need seperate checks ask for them upfront. These things can help speed up your lunch time. Keep in mind this is a "Mom and Pop" operation and staffing is usually at a minimun. If it's very busy and your in a hurry, maybe Five Guys or one of the other restaurants in the general vicinity is a better choice. Las Vegas recently received a beer and wine license.

I love Mexican and Salvadorian food so I was so excited to discover this location (near where I work). Once can sit down and get table service in this odd little strip mall spot or take it to go. Service is quick as the place is packed during lunch. They start you off with complimentary chips and what tastes like homemade salsa - yum. I finish it every time. I only gave this place 3 stars even though I love some of the dishes - the menu overall is too hit or miss for me to give it more stars. This place is SUPER cheap too so it's easy to try a few things to see what you like - they have a very extensive menu - with some items available for a mix/match entree. The tacos are 'eh' - not a lot of flavor, I do like that they have hard tacos but the meat tastes steamed with no flavor. Not sure why it is so yuck. The tamale (both the plain and the chicken) seem a little too soggy for me - maybe I'm getting the ones at the bottom of the steamer? They are too wet - and don't come with a sauce - maybe next time I'll ask for some on top. Plaza Garibaldi is still my fav. The chicken enchilada is good and saucy - a little small/thin but still tasty - just not much there. But let's get on to the pupusas with the accompanying cabbage-slaw-salsa mix- oh my!!! I prefer the cheese but the pork is good as well. They are these wonderful little pockets of oozy cheese with cool crisp salsa once can place on top - YUM!! The fried plantains are hands down my favorite. These are the closest I've had since my month long trip to Ghana had me searching and searching for something like what I had there (and I even tried the Ghana cafe in DC to no avail).

While I don't care for the food type, I felt I must correct the below review. Las Vegas moved to an adjacent building. It is now a neighbor to Ledos Pizza, across the parking lot. It still remains open.

I came here for a quick take-out lunch with a coworker, and it was DELICIOUS! the inside is small and unassuming, but it is very clean and smells wonderful. We sat at the bar and ordered enchiladas, which the woman working the counter suggested. While we were waiting, we were given chips and salsa, which was awesome! The salsa is really delicious, and seems homemade; the perfect combo of spicy and cilantro-y. My enchiladas ("Mama's Enchiladas") were delicious. Everyone in the office could smell them and they were jealous. I'm looking forward to coming back to try some tacos and a margarita after work. Side-note: they have the BEST hot sauce on their tables inside the restaurant. I legit used to steal these from the tables of a sketchy tex-mex place I frequented in college because I could never find it in stores.

Stopped in here for carry-out and was quite impressed. I grabbed 2 taco salads and chips and queso all for under $20. The salads were in a shell really tasty! They were packed well and huge! The queso was ok but tasted like a cheese soup and not a sauce. I didn't hate the flavor. The restaurant was nice, clean and service friendly. They have a huge menu with a lot of interesting things to try (beef tongue) and also offer several Mexican beers and sodas. I will return to try more of the menu and maybe dine in!

This place is now gone; an excellent Salvadorian place plowed over by a huge, lame Chipotle. FTW!

I love there food. It's well seasoned and still taste great as leftovers...if that ever happens. lasvegastexmex.net

Had the chicken tacos. Looked better than it tasted but not bad overall.

Meh.. Las Vegas is a last resort for lunch options for me.. The food isn't "bad", just tasteless. The insides of the establishment are somewhat dirty and the servers aren't even memorable. I'd rather eat taco bell. Skip this!

Really great food. Not so many veggie options on the menu but they are very accomodating and knowledgeable. The chips and salsa were delicious. This is definitely my new Mexican place in the hood!

Lunchtime options are seriously limited in the Woodlawn area, but this place is a great new addition! The yummy, authentic Mexican/Salvadorean food comes in huge portions for relatively cheap and the short wait time is made even more pleasant with the complimentary basket of chips and fresh salsa. My recommendations are the chicken enchiladas and the taco salad. If you can, save room for a side order of friend plantains. I want to say come early to beat the rush, because I have been here when every table was occupied, but I've also stopped in during prime lunch hour when it was alsmot empty - so it seems to be hit or miss. You can also get carry-out and they deliver, which is a big deal considering most places around here don't.

Normally, I love mexican food, but I got the Las Vegas combination and was surprised to find it lacking in flavor. It was as if the cook had no love for the food. Greasy, and lacking seasoning, even basics like salt & pepper or garlic powder.

was very happy with the chili rellanos - they were a bit greasy, but it was what I expected. They tasted great and the rice and beans were good too. I was very pleasantly surprised - it is not how I would cook them at home, but was a great special treat for me. The new location (within a block from the old one) was really clean and nice. A simple place with an enjoyable meal. Thanks so much!

Small and "The Real Deal!" A Cool Best Kept Secret! I'm a fan of Central and Latin American foods - this placed impressed and rivals ANY DC comida. Small menu packs a lot of punch! Just a few tables to dine in, open 7 days week, great "mom and pop" staff. Try their specialty a native "seafood saffron soup" a beautiful, rich and tasty blend of fish, mussels, shrimp, clams - "catch of the day." Huge portion for a single portion or easily split as 4 individuals. Skip the soda and go for the "cinnamon and nutmeg and coffee/mocha" drink - light, refreshing and a great treat. Good friend, from Puerto Rico, and a regular put me on to this place - I can't thank him enough. Nom Nom Nom.

This is a great place for inexpensive Mexican (the lunch menu has amazing $5.99 options) or dinner (check out the beautiful fish dishes). Also, if you love pupusas, this place cannot be beat. The owners are so sweet and friendly and it's great to support this lovely local business. I love Las Vegas!

Nice place in a convenient location. Very friendly staff. Food is delicious and authentic. Eat in includes salsa and tortilla chips. Splurge for the quacamole tho, it's chunky and fresh Pro's: Quality food, homemade ingredients, filling, friendly staff, large portions. Nice chili sauce selection on the table. Con's: Well, if anything, parking maybe? Huge parking lot but most of the spots during the day are taken up the by businesses.

I missed the complimentary salsa and chips that Michelle got when she was there. My former Directress and I were excited to try this Mexican/ Salvadorean place. Since the next door Five Guys Burger was still closed at 10 am, we decided to spend time here. We tried the yucca (expensive though for that small side dish), plantain, chicken tamale and pupusas combination. We liked the yucca best, Overall, this is a nice little place to go to if one is curious about other culture`s food. It is authentic from the servers to all the food and drinks being served. Besides, the setting reminded me of home- the Philippines.

OK, limited options in the area, but this one was A-OK. The fajitas were very good. The papusa was only OK. Chips and salsa were not my favorite -- to much onion and very acidic. That said, I'm sure I'll be back in the future.
